The Santafe railways
Written by Asir Husain Sunday, 26 April 2009 17:20 Last Updated on Sunday, 13 September 2009 17:17
Today i will be talking about santafe railways.
Santa Fe was once the capital of Spain's, and then Mexico's, territories north of the Rio Grande, but its visible history extends far beyond the arrival of the Spanish; it is thought to have been the site of some villages that had already been long abandoned by the time the Spanish arrived in 1607. It became the state capital territory of New Mexico achieved statehood in 1912.
In the early 20th century, the area attracted a number of artists, such as Georgia O'Keeffe and Alfred Stieglitz. The region remains important on America's art scene. The arrival of Igor Stravinsky and the founding of the Santa Fe Opera, one of the world's leading opera companies and had a similarly invigorating and enduring influence on the musical community. Many people go to Santa Fe for spiritual gatherings and to practice meditative arts at the many spas and resorts that are in and around Santa Fe.This in formation was from http://wikitravel.org/en/Santa?Fe?(New?Mexico).Santa Fe is rooted in paradoxes. On the one hand, it is one of the United States' oldest cities (by some reckonings the oldest), and many residents can trace their roots and property holdings in town back to the 17th century.
On the other hand, it has also been the target of a teeming influx of wealthy immigrants in the last 30 years or so that has spurred a great deal of new construction and created inflated prices for real estate -- and drastically elevated taxes on old family properties, many of which are owned by families that can't afford the taxes. The tension between new and old, rich and poor, etc., is a persistent undercurrent in the community. These and other factors (not the least of which is a well-deserved reputation as a haven for flamboyant characters) contribute to one of Santa Fe's enduring and proudly-worn nicknames: "The City Different."
Then in 1939 there was a route in santa fe chicago to a village.than later on in 1969 or something like that santa fe was bought by Amtrak. In the early 1971 the last santa fe trip to chicago. Now santa fe trains are running at a part of north Montana.
That is not all happend before 1939 above. Now this info is from http://www.answers.com/topic/atchison-topeka-and-santa-fe-railway Santa Fe Railroad, former U.S. railroad, chartered in 1863 as the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe RR; opened to traffic in 1864. Construction continued, and in 1880 it reached Santa Fe, N.Mex.; the following year the railroad connected with the Southern Pacific RR. The railroad acquired several small lines, and further construction followed; by the early 1890s the Santa Fe, with its 9,000 mi (14,480 km) of track and connections to Chicago and Los Angeles, became one of the world's longest railroad systems. Poor management and a reckless dividend policy combined with the depression of 1893, however, to bankrupt the railroad company, which in 1895 was reorganized as the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway Company. In the 20th cent. the railroad increased its holdings; by 1929 it had 13,000 mi. (20,917 km) of track in the Southwest.
In the 1960s a holding company, Santa Fe Industries, was created for the railroad and various subsidiaries. After the Interstate Commerce Commission blocked a merger with the Southern Pacific Company (1988), Santa Fe Industries reorganized, and the railroad emerged as a part of the newly named Santa Fe Pacific Corporation. In 1995 the Santa Fe Pacific Corporation merged with the Burlington Northern RR to become the Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railway.
okey these infos were from two websites just to inform u all. http://www.answers.com & wikipedia

In this video, the Pakistan army is seen in action in a territory that it rarely sets foot - South Waziristan. It is unclear though that they are fighting the Pakistan Taliban or villagers who traditionally do not allow Pak army to set foot in their villages. PBS says it is showing footage of Taliban being beaten in the village but we have doubts. It could simply be local people who do not want Pak army there.

Wfol.tv was the very few first to state that the wars led by the US across the world against Muslims on the name of the war on terror was making the US weaker and destroying its economy. At that time, when we wrote an editorial on this issue, the rest of the world seemed to state that it was not true that the cost of wars were destroying the US economy. Today the beliefs have changed and even the Americans have started to see the truth. Wars are killing their economy. Hence they must campaign for No Nato, No Wars!
