"Gaza in Crisis" with Noam Chomsky and Ilan Pappe

PDF Print E-mail

Although much of the material collected here precedes Israel's recent military attack on a Gaza-bound international flotilla of embargo-breaking humanitarian aid, this succinct and eye-opening collection of recent interviews and essays from the renowned linguist and activist Chomsky (Hopes and Prospects) and prominent Israeli historian Pappé (The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine) gives essential context to the crisis. The reader will find Chomsky's consistent positions on everything from the origins of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to the issue of a one- versus two-state settlement. Pappé adds vital and unexpected historical background, including a chapter on the deep American evangelical roots in the support of Zionism and the birth of modern Arab nationalism in Palestine.

Pappé and Chomsky are not perfectly in synch on every point: Chomsky remains skeptical of an academic boycott of Israel, for instance, called for in the past by Pappé and others. But the fundamentals of the crisis--and its scale in humanitarian, moral and political terms--are clear, as well as clearly expressed, between them. This sober and unflinching analysis should be read and reckoned with by anyone concerned with practicable change in the long-suffering region. (Nov.)

0 #1 YES Boycott of ALL Israeli goods is the ONLY message getting through right now.Adam Flude 2010-11-03 07:31
Our organisation initially resisted the call of the global NON-VIOLENT "Boycott Apartheid" movement, primarily because we believed right up to the 27th December 2008 that Israel still just about had SOME sort of genuine honourable intentions to attain a negotiated solution to their Illegal Occupation, Illegal Settlements, Terrorist Settlers, Ethnic Cleansing, Apartheid & Apartheid/Land-Grab Wall.
Since the massacre of Gaza CIVILIANS and especially since the governments of the EU & USA and the PA THEMSELVES have exonerated the Israeli War Criminals, we have regrettably but wholeheartedly been imploring people to join in Boycott Divestment & Sanctions as the ONLY effective message & action which is of any consequence.

Eyes in Sky - This video will really scare you

Watch Video Here

Though we do not really know who took the videos and where it originates, we have the information that it was taken after the Indonesian earthquake in Padang, Riau. If you look patiently at the video, you will see a pair of eyes that is formed in the clouds overlooking a village in Indonesia. It will really shock and scare you!

However, apparently this video was taken a few years ago in Russia. Hence the source is unknown and the location too but it is a very real video, not a graphic picture.
