During the Belgian presidency of the European Union, the ministers of defence will gather for an informal meeting in Ghent on 23rd and 24th September. The Belgian peace movement does not want to see a summit that prepares for war.

The 2010 General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA) which opens in Vienna, Austria, this coming weekend, will discuss a report from the Director General on the implementation of a resolution passed at last year’s meeting urging the placement of all nuclear facilities in the Middle East region under the supervision of IAEA.

The US is once again this week leading both the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) and the Israelis to talks. While there is no question Israel will lift some restraints on the ban to extend settlements on Palestinian lands, the talks are mostly about how to contain or eliminate Hamas.
