U.S. contributed to Haiti's Failed State Status

Now lets consider the bigger picture across the world. It is certain that the U.S. invaded Haiti and established a puppet regime - like in Afghanistan and Iraq - in order to be able to exploit the people and the national resources under the banner of 'Democracy' and 'Freedom'. Is this not what is happening in other parts of the world where the U.S. has literrally colonized lands? A quick visit to the CIA's website on Haiti reveals the obvious. The writers of the site note that Haiti is 'the poorest country' in the Western Hemisphere with '80% of the population' living under the 'poverty line' and 54% in 'abject poverty.' This is odd. Haiti was practically under the spell of the U.S. since 1994 and this shows why the U.S. has failed the Haitians.
If it was not for the devastating earthquake, we would not be writing about Haiti's position in the 'global world' as a 'colony' of the United States. That is what Haiti was since 1994 when the U.S. army invaded the country, removed the government to establish what it called a 'partner' in progress. The partnership fizzled weeks later as Haiti was left lingering in poverty and the American promises of a new era and greater democracy for the people of Haiti faded in memories.
The earthquake that has so far killed 100,000 people and made Haiti the poorest nation on earth has revealed more than anybody knew before about this country. After years of French backed dictatorial rule in Haiti with Papa Doc and Bebe Doc reducing the populace to poverty, the Americans came to seal the fate of the people. No help came from the U.S. since 1994 and instead of a new era of democracy, Haiti rapidly entered a new era of traficking and illicit trades with Capitalist backers from the U.S. and France in particular standing behind the rising criminality in the French speaking state.
According to the CIA source, Haiti was the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere with 80% of the population living under the poverty line and 54% in abject poverty. Two-thirds of all Haitians depend on the agricultural sector, mainly small-scale subsistence farming, and remain vulnerable to damage from frequent natural disasters, exacerbated by the country's widespread deforestation.

agriculture: 28%
industry: 20%
services: 52% (2004 est.)

The services sector officially consist of hotels and parlours, restaurants and other services rendered by the people to the UN and American armies indeed. Before the earthquake Haiti was suffering from widespread unemployment and underemployment; more than two-thirds of the labor force do not have formal jobs.
The population percentage below poverty line: 80% (2003 est.) Since 2003, the situation did not become better and after the earthquake, almost all the people of Haiti are today considered as living in the crutch of poverty itself.
Haiti has an external debt of $1.817 billion (31 December 2008 est.). This is not going to be better after the earthquake and who knows how Haiti will repay its debt to the capitalist world in the aftermath of the earthquake?
Since 2004, about 8,000 peacekeepers from the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) maintain civil order in Haiti; despite efforts to control illegal migration, Haitians cross into the Dominican Republic and sail to neighboring countries; Haiti claims US-administered Navassa Island
The CIA website also lists 'Illicit drugs' as a major issue in Haiti: Haiti is the Caribbean transshipment point for cocaine en route to the US and Europe; substantial bulk cash smuggling activity; Colombian narcotics traffickers favor Haiti for illicit financial transactions; pervasive corruption; significant consumer of cannabis.
This has taken place after 1994 and the so called HOPE mission by the U.S. in Haiti to improve the country's economic standards and conditions of living. And that is not all. The Americans, claiming to be super heroes in liberating people from poverty and from 'extremism', FAILED to stop 'organ' trade, child labor and slavery, women's prostitution on international level in Haiti. Was it going to be to the U.S. advantage to stop all these illicit trade including human traficking which put Haiti as one of the most 'prosperous' place to do such a trade?
Commodities in a multibillion dollar industry. Only the products are women and children being sold for profit. We're talking here about international sex trafficking, wrote haitisolidarity.net. It happens in Haiti in the form of growing 'tourism' of which the Americans are the biggest patrons.
Humantrafficking.change.org dared report that That's because approximately 225,000 children in Haiti live in situations of modern-day slavery. That's nearly a quarter million child slaves in one country. The existence of Haitian child slaves, often referred to as restaveks, has been documented for a long time, wrote the site. Restaveks are usually children from extremely poor families who are sent away to work as domestic servants in wealthier homes. The children aren't paid for their work, but provided shelter and a sometimes meager meal supply, it added. The fact is, this situation never ended even after the U.S. invasion and the multiple U.S. showcases of 'Hope' missions in Haiti.
Now lets consider the bigger picture across the world. Is this not what is happening in other parts of the world where the U.S. has literrally colonized lands? Is this not what is going to happen to all the people of the world, including Venezuela, Honduras, Chile and even Jordan, Egypt where pro-U.S. regimes are acting as puppets? Haiti is the perfect example of how the U.S. and capitalism attacks people's freedoms, luring them with 'democracy' talks only to enslave them indefinitely!
